First of all—I hope that you’re having a wonderful summer so far!
As many of you know, I just graduated from Harvard after spending the last few months writing a big thesis on how the climate movement mobilizes political support. I saw how the movement has political goals but doesn’t see itself as having the political capacity to achieve those goals. So I am now dedicating the next part of my life to understanding how the climate movement can be become a political force.
It just so happens that one of the BIGGEST international political opportunities is happening this fall in Paris for COP21—the UN climate negotiations. A binding climate treaty is expected to emerged from these talks, which makes COP21 an historic moment.
I am very honored and excited to say that I will be going to Paris in December as a member of SustainUS, a youth delegation that attends the conference to advocate for young people and push negotiators to advocate for meaningful and effective climate policy. I am going not only to join my peers in this moment in history, but also to understand and see how the climate movement takes advantage of a political moment. (This will hold so many lessons for how we mobilize around the 2016 elections!)
The thing is that I need your help to get to Paris. Would you consider donating to help pay for my journey? Any amount TRULY helps. I mean it! Just go here to donate.
I’m happy to answer any and all questions that you have! Thank you deeply–
