I’m going to be completely honest: I procrastinated when it came to driver’s ed. It’s almost the end of my 18th summer, and I can’t drive to see my friends, to my job, or to any place. So, to avoid un-due stress on my parents, I took up biking. I bike everywhere now: 15 miles to work, 10 miles to town, 25 miles to town then work, etc… In the absence of fossil-fuel consuming automobiles, I have my own green transportation that gets me in awesome shape. Is not having a car really that bad? I don’t think so. Maybe we could all use a couple of months without our cars. Then we can learn about healthier (and greener) transportation.
Here’s another example: my friend has a license, but he doesn’t have a car. Now–to get from point A to point B–he bikes, walks, skateboards, or carpools. We all know that these options are much better for body and nature than driving alone.
This is just some food for thought, an observation that I wanted to share with you. Maybe you can try living car-less too!
