Interview with Nisha Varghese
|
1) Why water? What pulled you to this campaign?
I was watching an episode of Oprah where they sent a couple of American kids to build a school in Kenya. While there, one of the American kids pointed out to the camera what kind of water the people over there had to drink. When I saw how dirty the water was, I knew I had to do something to change it.
2) What have been successful fundraising tactics that you have used?
I just told everyone who would listen what I was doing, and I asked bloggers to interview me on their blogs.
3) How have you leveraged social media and the internet to gain support for your campaign?
I tweeted and Facebooked about my campaign every day for two years straight, and it paid off in a big way. I raised $7,862. My goal was originally only to raise $6,500. 89 of my 90+ donors I found on Twitter.
